A longtime Guilford County Democratic Party leader announced Tuesday that she will run for a state House seat in 2024.
Nicole Quick said she plans to run to represent the 59th District. The race will involve an open seat because it currently is held by Rep. Jon Hardister, R-Guilford, who isn’t seeking reelection.

“Instead of fully funding our public schools, the majority in our state legislature have devoted their time to interfering in the function of our county school board, in order to seat an extremist board member who would focus on manufactured culture wars rather than the needs of our schools and students,” Quick said.
“I am worried for current and future students,” Nicole Quick, a GCS parent and member of Public School Strong, said.
Greensboro parent and Public School Strong member Nicole Quick also condemned defunding public schools in favor of private ones.
