Jeannette: An Epic Pop Musical
On Wednesday, September 9th at 5:30 PM, candidate for the NC House, Nicole Quick, invites special guest VA Delegate and Gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Carroll Foy to a conversation about our democracy. They’ll discuss how we can and must do better in the halls of power. The night will close with special musical performances from two of Broadway‘s fiercest women: Ari Afsar and Lauren Gunderson.
Broadway Star and composer Ari Afsar, whose accolades include starring as Eliza in Hamilton, teams up with Most Produced Playwright Lauren Gunderson to tell the story of Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected into Congress four years before the ratification of the 19th amendment; the amendment giving white women the right to vote.
Afsar and Gunderson will virtually perform and tell the story though music and dialogue of Jeannette Rankin to elicit hope, change, and disruption. They want to offer this live virtual theater piece to every single woman running in the Democratic Party federally, state-wise, or locally.
Before we can change policy we must change culture, and Jeannette helps move the narrative to do just that. Depending on the state or county of the identified woman running, Jeannette can showcase many Broadway voices (sprawling across various states) who are enraged, engaged, and fired up.
